JAMB to expend N95.8m on generators, fuel in 2014

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has proposed a N12.4bn budget for the 2014 fiscal year.
Of this amount, the board overhead cost will gulp N7.5bn while its personnel cost will take N2.4bn.
The examination body however proposed a revenue target of N617.9m in the year.
Details of the agency’s proposal are in
its 2014 budget proposal before the National Assembly. Our correspondent
obtained the document in Abuja.
Among others, JAMB proposed to buy 500
and 1000 KVA generators valued at N70m for its activities in the year
while it also budgeted N25.8m to fuel its generators.
The document further indicated that the agency planned to spend N9.4m to maintain its generators.
It also proposed N67.4m on local and
international trainings, N85.6m on security services, N80.3m on cleaning
and fumigation, N369.4m on insurance, and N51m on
publicity/advertisement.
Others are construction of
Computer-Based Test centres (N600m), procurement and installation of
high-speed workstation for the centres, (N341m) construction of offices
(N360m).
Meanwhile, the National Examination
Council has also submitted a budget proposal of N22.3bn out of which the
agency is expecting N454.9m as revenue.
The document submitted to the National
Assembly, through the Federal Ministry of Finance, showed that N16.9bn
will be spent on recurrent expenditure and N5bn on Personnel Cost.
