Do you shop because it is necessary?
It is fun. I love shopping. I shop because at times, it is great fun. Then I buy a lot of unnecessary things and it makes me have a nice time when I am out.
If you buy ‘unnecessary’ things, that means there are times you buy things you regret…
Oh yes. It has happened a lot of times. I have make-up that is not even my colour. I have loads of shoes that are not my size. I just see such and I buy because I like them and I would end up not using them.
Do you also shop online?
I just started learning how to shop online. I am not a master of it yet, but occasionally, I shop online. But I like to see and feel what I am buying. It is really a difficult thing to shop online.
Do you use POS or pay cash?
I use POS especially when I am abroad. It is only in Nigeria that you get to some shops and they tell you their POS is not working. Then you have to go and look for ATM to withdraw money and make your purchases.
Do you make a list before going to the shop?
I make a tentative list but by the time the shopping is done, I must have bought all the things I need and most times, they are not even things on my list.
Do you shop to impress people around?
I don’t do that. I bargain in regular markets and in supermarkets, I ask for discount. I am a regular African woman.
Can friends influence what you want to buy?
I don’t think so but I love shopping with friends. We can check up on one another and compare style.
Would you trust anybody to shop for you?
With the way the age is going, I am beginning to get into people they call ‘Personal Shoppers.’ I haven’t used them yet but my elder sister is my personal shopper for now. She is in tune with my style.
Who buys your groceries?
I buy them but sometimes, I make a list and I give to my brother or my PA.
How much can you spend in a shop?
The least I have spent in any shop is N5, 000. At least, it can buy two cufflinks.
