National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’Azu
The
National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu,
on Wednesday, said free primaries would make the party to win the 2015
general elections with ease.
“We should be united to conduct free,
fair and credible primaries as that would enable the party win
elections. We must conduct primaries that should be acceptable to all
and the candidate must be a winner. I know we can not satisfy everybody,
but we must try our best.” Mu’azu said.
He spoke at the weekly meeting of the National Working Committee of the PDP, which held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The PDP chairman asked members of the
National Working Committee of the party to join hands with him in
building a party that conformed with the expectation of the founding
fathers of the party.
As a mark of honour, members of the NWC
did not hold their usual weekly meeting on Wednesday, but decided to
present to Mu’azu a giant card, cake and flowers to commemorate his 59th
birthday.
The Deputy National Chairman of the
party, Prince Uche Secondus, conducted the event with all NWC members in
attendance cutting the cake.
Mu’azu, while responding to the gesture,
said, “This is a big surprise, I’m very grateful to God for my life and
what you have done today. We will live in peace; all hands must be on
deck to deliver PDP and you must all join me in working hard to help the
party grow.”
Secondus said he was happy that Mu’azu had turned the party around for good since he came on board.
He assured the chairman that members
of the NWC would work with him and support him in growing the party,
adding that members of the NWC would continue to be with him as they
move towards winning the June 21 Ekiti State gubernatorial election and
subsequent ones.
