Five lecturers probed for exam malpractices in C’River



Five lecturers of the College of Education in Awi, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State are presently under investigation for examination malpractice.
Disclosing this to journalists on Tuesday, Provost of the College, Dr James Ejue, said if found culpable by the governing council, the lecturers will be sacked.
He also said a lecturer was in 2013 sacked after he was found guilty of the same offence.
Ejue disclosed that some students were expelled in 2013 due to examination malpractice, adding that more will be expelled this year.
“We don’t compromise on academic standards. We have zero tolerance to corruption here.
“We will not hesitate to sack those five lecturers if they are found culpable as their colleague was sacked for the same offence last year,” he said.
The Provost said at the moment the institute offers 23 courses out of which 20 have full accreditation.
The remaining three, he added, had partial accreditation.
He said the school was working hard to ensure that get full accreditation.
Ejue said they were also working to ensure they start awarding degrees.
